For big decisions without an obvious answer

Which path wins? Find the number that changes the answer.

Most advice gives you a rule. I want to show you when that rule works, and when it does not. Fortunes Visualized compares the real choices, finds what matters most, and shows the Tipping Point where the better path changes.

You already have enough to manage in your career, family, or business. You should not have to become a financial analyst to make one important choice.

Current decision

Start with the newest published decision.

Each published decision puts the episode, sources, interactive tool, result, Tipping Point, and important limits in one place.

Built around real decisions

Use the decision in three steps.

See which path is ahead, which number matters most, and where the answer changes.

1Which path is ahead?
2Which number matters most?
3Where is the Tipping Point?
What makes it useful

A useful answer should also show you when it changes.

That is the Tipping Point: the number or condition where the preferred choice changes. Once you can see it, the decision becomes much easier to reason about.

See the choices

Put the realistic paths on the same timeline and compare them by the same rules.

Find what matters

Change the important numbers and see which ones actually move the result.

Know where it changes

Find the point where the better path changes, then decide which side of it your situation is on.

Why I built this

Credentials matter, but the work should stand on its own.

I have spent more than 30 years working on difficult questions, including building Netflix's first business data science team and serving as Tableau's first director of analytics. The habit I kept coming back to was simple: look beyond the obvious comparison and find what could change the answer.

I will show you the sources, separate facts from estimates, give you my best-supported conclusion, and explain what could change it.

When the question becomes personal

The next question is usually: “What happens with my numbers?”

The public decision gives you the insight. Membership lets you replace my example with your situation, save different versions, compare choices, and keep using new decision tools as they are published.
